As competition among IPTV providers increases, content aggregation is expected to play a greater role in attracting and retaining customers. Consumers are increasingly tired of managing multiple subscriptions across various platforms. IPTV providers can respond by creating ‘super bundles’ that aggregate content from different streaming services, including traditional TV networks, on-demand services and niche platforms.
Super bundles not only simplify the user experience, but also offer cost-effective solutions by bundling multiple services together under a single payment plan. This model mirrors how cable TV once worked, but adds the flexibility and customisation options that IPTV users demand.
While IPTV traditionally refers to video transmitted over internet protocols, the future is likely to see more hybrid models combining traditional broadcast and internet-based content. For example, IPTV services may offer a mix of over-the-air (OTA) content as well as internet streaming, offering users the best of both worlds: real-time broadcasts for news and sports combined with the flexibility of on-demand streaming.
This hybrid approach also helps address concerns in areas with limited internet connectivity or where broadband speeds are not fast enough to support pure IPTV services.
